Priorities

I have not posted in a very long time as I have been doing much soul searching regarding photography, life and my family.  You see I was so caught up in the busyness of life and trying to have a successful business that I lost sight of what is truly important in this life – my faith and my family.  For nearly 24 years I have had the privilege of being a mostly stay at home mom and wife.  Taking care of my family has always been the utmost of importance to me, baking, making healthy meals, sewing clothes, making our house into a home, being there to listen, to help, to hold, to love.  Somewhere in those years volunteering also took on significance, little league, room mom, Sunday school teacher, cub scouts, athletic fund raiser, school council, pto/pta, bible school, mentoring, tutoring, and in general helping where I could.  Somewhere the line became clouded and I began to spend more time away from my family helping others.  I had to take a long look at myself and get my priorities back in order.  The same thing happened when I opened for business thirteen months ago after many years of being the volunteer photographer.  I spent more time on my business, education for my business, marketing, and trying to give my clients perfection.  I finally figured out after decades of life that I could not do it all.  I cannot excel in all things at all times so I have to take a step back and re-access how I have been doing things.  My Faith, Marriage and Family must always take first place along with my health.  However, God created a very creative woman in me and I must create, for when I create I feel completely full of life.  I must prioritize and as they say in the “diet world” do things in moderation.  I am still in business but I will be taking on fewer clients each month, I want to give you my very best and my family also.  Your photography investment is a sacrifice for you and my goal is to give you my very best, to give you a lasting memory that can be cherished and handed down from generation to generation.  Because I am a one woman show; the photographer (so thankful for my sweet friend Freida, my sometimes assistant), editor, marketer, bookkeeper (with a lot of help from my dear friend Donna), customer service rep, secretary, etc. it may take me a little longer than some to get your completed order back to you but I want to give you my very best as well as my family.  I thank you in advance for understanding and am so very appreciative of my wonderful clients.  Each one of you is a treasure from heaven above.  May your day be filled with blessings.

New Look

There is a new look coming to Janet Caraway Photography this fall.  Very soon, I will be unveiling a new and exciting venture in portrait photography.  New portrait pricing and packages will also be available beginning in September 2011.  I will continue with sports photography but will be branching out with other schools and the recreation department.  Football season is just around and I cannot wait to be on the sidelines snapping those action shots.  I am also looking forward to softball and volleyball this fall.  I hope everyone is enjoying plenty of rest and relaxation with their families this summer.   Remember to schedule your senior portraits.  I will be back to work full-time at the end of August.  This busy mom is enjoying a little family time too.  Blessings to all.

A Surprise Blessing

Yesterday we were blessed with a snow/ice event here in the south.  Yes, I say blessed....you see we were given extra time with our families, had a chance to just spend a relaxing day together with a warm fire, a cozy blanket and wonderful family.  There was also the opportunity to capture some of the beauty outdoors.  The 3-D effect that the thin coating of ice gave to everything was amazing.  The way the light bounced and changed colors, the way the beautiful creatures created by our Heavenly Father were out gathering their food while providing us with delightful songs.  The color contrast between the birds, squirrels and foliage was simply amazing.  The cold, snow and ice made this northwestern girl feel a little closer to home.  I am so thankful that we were given this blessing. I am thankful to for all those who were out braving the cold so that the rest of us could enjoy this extra day with our families.  Here are a few samples of what I saw yesterday.  You can find the rest at www.janetcarawayphotography.com.
Have a wonderful day filled with blessings.
